Show oo MICHAEL L POWERS TAKES HIS OWN LIFE Salt Lake. ,ian 26, Michael L Powers, one of the most prominent mining men of Utah's early days, committed suicide about 10 o'cIocK last night in his room at the Metropolitan Metro-politan hotel, 7S West Third South street, by firing a bullet into his brain Powers, who was almost totally blind from an injury received some years ago in the Bullion-Beck mine at Rnreka, was a sufferer from dyspepsia, dys-pepsia, and for four days was unable to leave his room. Yesterday morn ) ing he requested Mrs. Ada Thomas, proprietress of the hotel to send for Dr. H. B. Sprague. The physician visited Mr Powers and prescribed for him. during the day Mrs Thorn as visited Mr. Powers' room several times for the pn-rose of giving mecii-clue mecii-clue to him, accordine to tho doctor s orders She last saw him alive at 6:15 o'clock.
