Show BRICKLAYERS MAY RENEW CONTROVERSY Salt Lake, Jan. 7. The controversy between bricklayers and building contractors, con-tractors, which was qulted last May, threatens to arise asain, according to local bricklayers, if their demands for increased wages are not considered consid-ered for the year 1914. In December, 1912. according to C. H Banks, closely affiliated with the bricklayers' union the scale was placed at SO cents an hour. On May 1, 1913, the building contractors passed a resolution reverting the scale for bricklayers to the 1912 schedule of $6.00 a day. This resolution reso-lution caused the controversy. It is the general belief that the builders will meet an increase for the brick masons if prospects for building for the year justify it. The bricklayers decided at a recent union un-ion meeting that no union bricklayers should work for less lhan $6.40 for eight hours during the present ear.
