Show I UNION PACIFIC A PROSPEROUS I 11 RAILROAD. I W. H. Chevers, general agent of the I Union Pacific with headquarters In I Ogden, says that the December and I January business of his road is heavi- I er than in the same period at any time In the past. That ls a big boost for the Union Pacific and an equally big boost for the entire west. It means that the I UB" Union Pacific is a prosperous road LtJB in a region that haa yet to feel the I pinch of hard times. It further I I i ( means that the territory through I which that railroad passes is grow- Wmjk ; ij lug in importance. I With confidence restored In the I J nation, the Union Pacific would have I more traffic than could be handled Without increased equipment and the completing of the double track between be-tween Ogden and Omaha. Our opinion ls that the Union Pacific, Pa-cific, in order to bo prepared for the traffic In the world's fair year which ls next year, will be compel leo to proceed with the double tracking of the road from Ogden through Weber We-ber and Echo canyons to Evanston ibis year. Tho company has ample iundfi with which to carry on the work and need not delay because ot iinanclal conditions. To defor action ac-tion until the rush in 1916 is upon them, and then to find themselves unequal to the demand, would be a severe reflection on Union Pacifio management nn |
