Show -oo I WOOLGRQWERS WILL HAVE MUCH FUN Salt Lake, Jan. 7 Plans for entertainment enter-tainment of the delegates to the convention con-vention of the National Woolgrowers' association were discussed yesterday iby the convention committee of the ! Commercial club. The feature of the .opening day, January 15, will be an informal reception and dance to be held in the evening at the Commercial Commer-cial club. Arrangements for this affair af-fair will be in the hands of the entertainment enter-tainment committee of the Commercial Commer-cial club. A reception committee consisting (Of Mrs Elizabeth Bonnemort. Mrs. 'Hugh C Wood, Mrs. Abner Luman, iMrs C. B Stewart, Mrs. J. E. Austin, Mrs. S. M. Covey, Mrs. Wellington ILake and Mrs. Leslie W. Snow was .appointed by the convention committee. commit-tee. These ladies will preside at the reception preceding the dance at the Commercial club. On the following night, Friday, there will be a prize fight for the entertainment en-tertainment of the delegates. The , fight will be between "One Round" Hogan and Gilbert Gallant. It will he held in the Auditorium. The convention committee decided that the prize fight would not provide attractive amusement for the ladies who will be here with the delegates, and therefore a theater party will be arranged for them. A section of seation of seats in the Orpheum has been reserved for the evening. Governor Spry and .Mayor Park have both consented to welcome the delegates at the opening session of the comention if they are in tow n at the time. Convention headquarters will be lo cated in the Elks" club. With their usual hospitality the Elks are arranging arrang-ing for every convenience and com- j fc-rt for the guests during the convention. conven-tion. The business sessions of the convention will be held in the lodge-room lodge-room of the Elks' club Arrangements are being made for musical programs at each session. Ramsay Coming. Word was received yesterday by I j the local office of the United States 1 bureau of animal industry that Dr. R. A Ramsay, formerly stationed in Salt Lake, but now inspector In charge of the field work for the de-1 partment with headquarters at Washington, Wash-ington, will attend the coming con-ention con-ention of the National Woolgrowers' association and make one of the principal addresses J. E. Cosgriff president of the Contl nontal National bank, will address the woolgrowers on the subject of "An Open Market for Wool." Ar-r Ar-r angements were made yesterday j with Mr. Cosgriff to address the convention. con-vention. Attractive convention badges have been received at Secretary C B Stewart's Stew-art's office. They are in the form of a bright shield, bearing the imprint of the convention title and the head oi a ram A sheep bell is pendant trom the shield. To Change Date, It is possible that the date of subsequent sub-sequent annual conventions of the Woolgrowers' association may be changed at the meeting here. If this i - done It will bo to make possible a sheep show in connection with the conventions On account of the usual cold weather that prevails at the time of the aJnuary conventions, owners of valuable sheep are disinclined to risk sending their prize winners to a sheep show. Then, too, the international live stock show Is usually held In Chicago around the first of Novem I ber each ear, and the exhibitors have their animals there. It is believed be-lieved that a convention date about ten days or two weeks prior to the , time of the international exhibition would be satisfactory to the owners of valuable sheep. Then they could ship their animals from the show held m connection with the convention direct di-rect to the Chicago show. There is a strong sentiment in favor of a sheep show in the intermountain states, to be held in connection with the wool growers' convention. Among the cities which are already in the field for the 1915 convention of the woolgrowers are Los Angele3, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Spokane, Boise and Iudianapolis. On account of the Panama-Pacific exposition it is considered consider-ed probable that the convention will be held in a coast city. |
