IIP OF CITY 11 BASEMENT The annual report of city sanitary inspector, George Shorten, and city physician, Dr Walter Whalen. were submitted to the Board of City Commissioners Com-missioners at their meeting this morn-1 lng. The report of Mr. Shorten includes a noticeable improvement in the mat ter of getting records of births from the local physicians, that matter having hav-ing been pressed with much zeal by his department through the order of the Federal and State health departments. depart-ments. Several suggestions for the welfare wel-fare of the community are made in the report, among them being the proposal pro-posal an ordinance to abolish the bill-boards, many complaints having been received from different socle-ties socle-ties and individuals. Another gives ways and means of destroying all garbage, etc., that is collected around the city. The unsanitary condition of the basement of the city hall is mentioned mention-ed with the suggestion that It be remedied in the near future. Dr. Whalen, in his report, calls the attention of the commissioners to the large mileage covered by the members mem-bers of the health department and suggests that, to save time a vehicle be furnished that could be used by the physician, sanitary inspector and deputies.
