Show CHINESE STUDENTS WITH THE PARTY Salt Lake. April 30 Seventy members mem-bers of the senior class of the Colorado Colo-rado School of Mines at Golden are studying conditions and methods of mine work at Bingham under the direction di-rection of a corps of instructors from the school. Tho party arrived in Bingham yesterday morning and spent the day at the Highland Bo) and Utah Copper properties. They will visit the Ohio Copper property todav and come to Salt Lake tonight. Their plans for tonight include a dinner at the Louvre cafe, and later they will be guests at a Commercial club smoker, where the Glee and Mandolin clubs will participate in a program The metallurgists of the party will go to Tooele Friday, and the geologists geolog-ists will visit Little Cottonwood can yon. On Saturday the metalurglsts will inspect the Midvale plant of the United States Smelting company and the miners the Jordan power plant The entire class will visit the Mag na plant Monday and on Monda night the students will go north for a two-weks' stay in the Butte and Anacondn districts. Enrolled in the class and included includ-ed In the party are seven Chinese students, who are being educated by their government. After the Boxer trouble the Chinese government paid a large indemnity to the United States government and the latter founded with the money an education al fund by which Chinese students are educated in this country. The scholarships are awarded on competitive com-petitive examinations of the most stringent character. These seven students arp scholarship winners and are paid $75 a month, in addition to all charges for tuition and living expenses, ex-penses, while pursuing their studies. |
