ROBBERY NOT discovered UNTIL YESTERDAY cheap jewelry and considerable of clothing constituted their haul this time police alert some time early Saturday morning McCre adys store on lower street was burglarized the occurrence was not discovered until yesterday afternoon when the matter was reported to the officers the thieves as tar as the investigation has gone look a quantity of cheap jewelry and about twelve or fourteen pairs of trousers the burglars have had plenty of time to make their getaway leaving the officers no clue with which to proceed at 1130 last night a report reached the police station that an attempt was made to burglarize the residence of joseph T gould iab 2220 blead avenue the burglars attempted to enter the house from the rear and had got into the summer kitchen by ing the lock on the door when they were frightened away by the dog between 12 and 1 this morning tho police were notified by different parties in the vicinity of and streets on adams avenue to the effect that a suspicious character was prowling around in that neighborhood the patrol wagon with officers were dispatched to the scene it more of these burglars would get the dose administered by a railroad employed a few nights ago to a man who tried to gain entrance to his home it would have a tendency to put a quietus upon the operations of these night prowlers the story has just leaked out A few nights ago the railroad employed was awakened by a noise in his house he began an investigation with a gun in his hand the burglar made a hasty exit but not until his trail was discovered just as he was clearing the yard fence and while within ten feet of him his pursuer fired and has every reason to believe that his aim was good as he usually shoots straight it Is believed that somewhere in the atty this wounded burglar is being nursed and cared for by confederates
