A no instance of refusal has up to this time been Be ported san francisco cal aug 13 p m superintendent R H ingrain of the southern pacific made the following statement today to the associated press relative to ane telegraphers grap hers strike between 1100 and 1200 telegraph operators are employed by the southern pacific throughout its system the majority are members of tho order of railway telegraphers the southern pacifica contract with the order provides that its members working on our lines shall handle western union commercial business when 1 called on to do ao had a conference today with division secretary D W Koppl cus of the order of railway telegraphers who is the southern pacific agent at east oakland at the cloae of the interview mr Koppl cus seni a message over our wires to all order of railway telegraphers in this division cautioning them to disregard all strike rumors and keep strictly to the letter of the southern pacific order of railway telegraphers contract 1 I have not been advised of the refusal in any instance of western union messages by men manning our telegraph lines and I 1 do not anticipate any such refusal we expect to observe our contract with the men of the order of railway telegraphers under the south australian wages and workshops act a conference of boards provisions of the factories employers and employed emp loyes connected with the agricultural implement trade Is now sitting in the government offices adelaide in order to fix tho scale of wages to be paid to workmen engaged tn the manufacture 0 articles |
