OCR Text san francisco and oakland operators ao out after 5 pm san francisco aug 13 all san francisco and oakland telegraphers working or the western union struck after 5 this evening following the discharge earlier in the day of six union telegraphers who refused to work with nonunion non union men at outside points the operators of the postal company decided to go out tonight ly after midnight this will again tie up san FFrancis co oakland and nearby towns reports received tonight indicate a spreading of the strike ayer the pa coast and it is believed that by tomorrow morning the entire west will be at a standstill recio nevada an important western union overland repeater station and relay point for big nevada gold fields struck at 5 and sacramento telegraphers western union and postal went out early this evening later the employed emp loyes of both companies at portland oregon left their keys and the seattle force ol 01 the western union quit the entire system of the associated press closed down at this evening when the flash came over the overland wire from salt lake to quit
