OCR Text VALLEY DAY IN OMEN CANYON ANNUAL OUTING ENJOYED BY ALL entertaining program the usual felicities li and a general good time Is assured today la valley day at the oaks arf ogden canyon the annual outing 0 our valley friends has become as fixed aa summer itself andi ls beginning to be looked forward to by the people of the county aa much so as originators of the event themselves good music by a first class orchestra is furnished and hon harry joseph of salt lake delivered an address J B davenport is marshal of the day besides dancing and the following program 0 events haa been arranged yard race for hoys under 15 years first prize pearl handled knife given by patron of the oaks second prize one case of soda water given by emmett brothers 60 yard race for ladles first prize 5 ib box candy given by shupe ali clams candy co second prize one case soda water given by emmett brothers yard handicap race for men over 20 years of age first prize box columbia club cigars given by columbia club cigar co second prize one quart old crow whiskey given by J E davenport ot the grill for the best loaf ot bread made from peery brothers flour prize ibs crescent high patent flour best homemade home made layer cake ibs granulated sugar given by the F J klesel co A prize of new grain sacks will be awarded tor the best sheaf of oats raised in ogden valley given by the V 0 kay company for the best specimen one year old brook trout raised in ogden valley mrs C S potter will give a complete table set of rogers bros silverware second prize one box Wess lers best cigars given by cigar company the hon D H peery jr will give the following prizes for the three most beautiful young ladles in ogden valley first prize 15 second 10 third 5 genial albert will give six prizes as follows 5 each to the best looking old lady and gentleman from liberty 5 each to the best looking old lady and gentleman from eden 5 each to the best looking old lady and gentleman from huntsville waltzing contests for couples over 50 years of age contest to be determined not on endurance but for grace first prize case of oranges given by H L griffin co second prize fruit bowl given by richardson grant step dance contests tor people over 50 years of age first prize silver sugar bowl and pitcher given by edmund potter second prize jug of whisky given by the oaks and containing the best in the cellar the becker brewing malting co will give a case of beckers famous beer to the largest family on the grounds from ogden valley harry S joseph albert theodore W 0 kay thomas burt and F B grant will judge the above events and walter bratz will manage all athletic events it Is a safe forecast to say that there is no haymaking hay making in the valley today no matter how persistently the sun Is shining
