Show UNITED STATES KEEPS HANDS OFF Washington, Sept 14. While there is a disposition to assist in every proper way the restoration of peace between Italy and Turkey, officials of the state department confess that so far tho United States has made no move 'whatever in that direction. If any Americans, officials or individuals, indi-viduals, havo used their good offices to bring Italy and Turkey Into 'a position posi-tion where they might be induced to listen to overtures for peace, that has been done informally. Officially the stato department knows nothing whatever of such a move. Officials say that no matter how strongb disposed the United Slates government might be toward securing peace in the Mediterranean, no considerations have presented themselves of sufficient weight to Justify Jus-tify a departnre from the traditional American policy of non-intervention in the political quarrels of Europe. |
