Show ROBERTS DEFEATED FOR NOMINATION Brigham Citv Spot. 13 The Republican Re-publican judicial convention fnr he First judicial dihu.v,,. w.u, held in this city yesterday, when nominations were made for district judge and district dis-trict attorney. C Hoist of Box Elder county was made chairman and Far-rel Far-rel Johnson of Cache was secretary There was not a full representation of delegates from the three counties, but a motion carried giving each county its full voting strength, the absent votes being pro rated to the Nominees for judge were J. C. Walters Wal-ters and D. R. Roberts of Logan. Tho first ballot was as follows. Cache, Walters -Id, Roberts 7. Box Elder. Walters 25, Roberts 3, Rich, Walters 5, Total.' Waiters 75, Roberts 10. At this point Mr. Roberts gained the floor and in a neat little speech he accepted his defeat with good grace and also took opportunity to compliment compli-ment the Republican party. Walters' nomination was made unanimous upon up-on motion of .Mr RobertE. B. C. Call, present incumbent, had no opposition for the office of district dis-trict attorney. Call was nominated by Hans S. Larson of this city and was seconded by Attorney Nels Jensen, Jen-sen, who moved that the rules be suspended sus-pended and Mr. Call be named by acclamation. ac-clamation. The convention acted unanimously on the motion. |
