Melville; council man for 4 year term, J. J. Stnrley; eouiicllinen for 2-year term, Mllo D Warner, James Woodard and Fred Cummlngs; city recorder, Daniel Kelly; city treasurer, Heber C. Jackson. Jack-son. The change of mail route from Clear Lake to Oasis, which took effect Monday, Oct. 23, Is causing much comment for and against, but we trust that time will convince all that the change will be for the best, and will do the most good tq the most people. Tho bit argument on a question ques-tion of this kind Is a test and time. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, a number of boys who had rested the previous night In the jail, appeared before Justice Jus-tice J. S. Hlles on a complaint by the marshal for disturbing the peace. They were adjudged guilty as charged after a number of witnesses were heard. The two boys above Juvenile age were fined $10 each and the others $.' each. A few days ago an Indian by the name of Wen, wishing to stop the pangs of hunger, broke Into the Meadow creamery. A lady who saw him gave the alarm. Constable Ames came and took the Indian. Not wishing wish-ing to watch the Indian all night, he let him go. Next day he started after him and the last heard of the case the constable was still in pursuit. Moral: "A bird In the hand In worth two In the bush."
