Tho recent great progress in every department of electrical development has been made posslblo In largo degree by tho energy of these men of Butte. For the city and its environs now produce pro-duce a quarter of the world's entire product of copper, about two-fifths that of tho United States. A single group of mines In tho heart of the city, tho Anaconda, yields more than twice as much copper yearly as all Germany. Nor Is tho treasuic confined con-fined to copper. Butte Is the greatest slher producing center in the United States, its annual output, some $13,-000,000, $13,-000,000, being nearly equal to that of tho entire state of Colorado, which, next to Montana, has tho laigcst production of all the states. And of all gold Butto still yields considerably oer $1,000,000 yearly. |
