PAROWAN - South Pacific is the monumental musical by which all others are measured! Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein make up the creative team which has brought "South Pacific" with all its beloved songs: "Some enchanted evening", "There is nothing like a Dame", "Bali Ha'i", "A Wonderful Guy". "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair", "Younger than Springtime", "Happy Talk", and so many, many more! Adapted from James Michener's novel, "Tales of the South Pacific" "SOUTH PACIFIC" IS THE STORY OF U.S. Navy Nurse Nellie Forbush (DeAnn Stapely) who falls in love with French Palntation owner Emile de Becque (Jeff Johnson) on a Pacific Island during World War II. A second story concerns a Marine officer (Steve Johnson) and a beautiful native girl, Liat (Jeani Jerome) who meet on the enchanted island of Bali Ha'i, and it is love at first sight. The Marine lieutenant has arrived on the island to enlist de Becque's aid in a daring scheme to spy on Japanese troop movements. Bali Ha'i, the enchanted island, and the boar's tooth ceremony will be shown with all the color and authenticity possible. Mr. Reed L. Turner, director, has chosen February 5 and 6 as the two production dates. 94 students from the Parowan High School will be participating to help make this a very special event for the school year.
