Show Commissioners, SWUDHD meet to resolve county problems Following a discussion the Commission indicated that under County administration the program had been self-sustaining self-sustaining and had, in fact, accumulated some surplus from the sale of services. The commission com-mission expressed an unwillingness un-willingness to underwrite a possible deficit until in fact it was indicated that such a deficit existed and that all resources including existing surpluses had been exhausted. The Delegation reviewed with the commission the Environmental En-vironmental Health Program and asked for financial support for an additional sanitarian. The Commission offered a counter proposal suggesting that the SWUDHD, instead train the Iron County Building Inspector and duly deputize him to perform the additional services needed. The Commissioners suggested that the positions were closely enough aligned that the work could be accomplished by one individual, if properly trained and authorized. Dr. Trafton indicated that the proposal of the Commission would be taken under advisement ad-visement and investigate the possibility of the joint responsibility. respon-sibility. In addition to Dr. Trafton, Department Director, members of the delegation included Ila Mae Cumming and Bill Dawson. Iron County Commission and representatives of the Southwestern South-western I'tah District Health Department, headed by Dr. David L. Tralton, met to resolve and discuss a number of programs and services relative to Iron County. It was a part of the regular meeting of the Iron County Commission held Wednesday of last week. Dr. Trafton advised the council that an additional part time nurse was needed and asked the Iron County Commission to supply necessary funding. It was determined that since the Commission is on a calendar year and the health service on a fiscal year and that the request was for fiscal year 1975-76, that the commission could only budget for the six month period from July 1 through the end of 1976. On that basis the Commission agreed to cooperate in the program and assist in the funding fun-ding to meet the additional nursing requirements. The SWUDHD, it was reported, is also taking over the Iron County Home Health Program. The delegation inquired into the County's attitude to underwrite, up to $500, possible deficits in the program. |
