Show Commission fills appointments James C. Sandberg and Richard F. Jones were reappointed reap-pointed to terms on the Iron County Planning Commission, subject to their acceptance, at the meeting of the Iron County Coun-ty Commission. Terms of the two members will expire In February. In other action of the Com. mission funds from the Trans, lent Room Tax, collected from motel and hotel facilities In Iron County were approved In the amount of $1399 to be used for a full page advertisement advertise-ment for Iron County in the Motl Association Booklet. Lee that reimbursement was expected. ex-pected. The Commission denied a request by Attorney Patrick H. Fenton of Cedar City for funds to research trial pro. cedure and other matters relating re-lating to the Cody case. A request was also submitted submit-ted to the commission asking that they consider a proposal to compromise in connection with the building of a new county courthouse. The proposal pro-posal requested that the county coun-ty build in Parowan a court-house court-house sufficient to house the county offices presently locat ed in that city and that the old courthouse be remodeled to temporarily house the of-fices of-fices of County Attorney, Sheriff and Assessor, until such time as Cedar City is ready to proceed with a new building at which time the county could join with Cedar City to build facilities for those county offices presently located In Cedar City. Following a discussion on the proposal the commission agreed to continue with plans for a building to house on a permanent basis all County offices. Fife, county industry development devel-opment director, also reported on the commissions actions to pay the county's share, for the first six months, of the Five County Association advertising advertis-ing assessment, as well as utilization ut-ilization of Transient Tax Funds to help defray costs of the newly published Iron County Brochure. A County Room Tax Board, authorized by the commission and made up principally of motel and hotel owners, has been authorized and established estab-lished to recommend areas for which the funds can be used. Final decision on expenditure, however, lies with the Commission, Com-mission, it was pointed out. Keith Smith, Chairman of th Commission, reported that as the result of a meeting with law officials of the county coun-ty and Cedar City as well as Cedar City Mayor Loren Whet-ten, Whet-ten, had met and appointed Ira Schoppmann to assume the responsibility of supervision supervis-ion of the jointly owned jail facilities in Cedar City. Other Oth-er policies regarding the jail operation were unchanged, Smith reported. A report 6f activities of the Civil Defense for Iron County was made to the commission by Hal Christensen, director. He reported that they had ob. talned a 10-wheel truck for search and rescue purposes, but that it was in need of new tires and minor repairs.
