Show Redmen win big over weekend; meet Delta in vital Region clash Team Standings Delta - 5 0 Cedar 4 1 Dixie 2 2 Hurricane 0 4 Millard 0 4 Delta. For Coach Dick Hobbs and his Redmen to stay In the action. they must defeat the Rabbits Friday .. a feat that would put the two teams Jn a tie for the league lead. A win for the Rabbits will virtually glva them the cham pionship with the Redmen the only team within striking distance. dis-tance. Since the loss to the Rabbits in early season play the Red-men Red-men have been coming on strong. Last week they picked up three victories Including Payne, Leavltt and Jenson all scored In the double figures fig-ures against Millard last week In that victory, that was never In question midway Into In-to the first quarter of play. The Redmen scored at will against Piute, and again con. trolled the game from start to finish building up a 20 point leud midway In the third period per-iod of play. The R e d m en's balanced scoring, and good strength on the boards could prov to be a problem this week for the Rabbits, for although it will be far from the end of the season, the game could be the end of the league race if the iRedmen can't pull this one out of the fire. wins over league rivals Dixie and Millard, at St. George and Fillmore, respectively. They finished out the week with a win over Piute. The Redmen appear to be a stronger team than when they met Delta early In the season, sea-son, a3 evidenced by their 69 to 48 relatively easy win over Millard and Piute. The Rabbits are not about to roll over and play dead for the Cedar High School warriors, war-riors, however. They did a little tuning up for the contest con-test themselves when they shellacked Hurricane 93 to 61 led by Adams with 26 points. Only questionable spot for the Redmen going Into the ac tion will be that of David Judd, a regular on the forward for-ward line. Judd sustained an ankle Injury against Milliard in Friday's action and was kept out of the contest Saturday Satur-day against Piute. Should Judd not be up to par Coach Hobibs will call on either Adams of Kevin Cox to fill the spot. Otherwise the Redmen will probably go With Don Payne, the Redmen's leading scorer with a 19-6 average av-erage in five league games, at the center spot. Colby Leavltt, a sophomore that has been coming on strong and scoring at an average of 14 points plus for four games, will foe at the other forward spot. Expected to start on the guard line will be Rob Jenson and Doug Watson with relief re-lief close at hand with Roland Snyder. im i - Last Week's Results Cedar City 69, Millard 48 Delta 93, Hurricane 61 This Week's Schedule Delta at Cedar Millard at Dixie The championship of the Region 8, AA division, will be on the line Friday night when the Cedar High School Red-men Red-men take on the Delta Rabbits.
