Show Millard Eagles stun Cedar High grapplers Cedar High School Redmen grapplers suffered their second sec-ond defeat of the season against 13 wins Thursday ev. Tiing at the hands of the Millard Mil-lard Eagles. In the first meeting of the oason between the two clubs at Fillmore the Redmen took an early lead in the lightweights, light-weights, but gave ground and the team lead in the middle weights, sufficient to put the match out of reach. Previously the Redmen had split with the Delta Rabbits for their only loss of the season sea-son and the loss to Millard put the Redm-on and Eagles In a tie for second place behind Delta. Delta has defeated Millard Mil-lard twice this season. Mark Morrison of the Red-men Red-men got things off to a good start with a 4-2 decision over Kevin Kesler to put the Red-men Red-men out In front 3-0 and Br.ent Goodman at 105 scored a 7 0 victory over Kendall Quarn-berg Quarn-berg to further increase the Redmen load. First win for the Eagles came at 112 when John Whit- taker outpointed Mike Card-well Card-well of the Rsdmen 5-0. At 119 Craig Rollo increased increas-ed his season record to 14 straight wins with a decisive 16-1 decision over Hal Edwards of the Eagles. At 126 Gary Teeiples of the Eagles, a defending de-fending state champion, scored scor-ed a 5 0 victory over Theron Heaps of the Redmen. The lead in the match changed at the 138 class when Greg Kesler of the Eagles pinned pin-ned Brian Terry of the Redmen in the second round. The win gave the Eagles a 15-10 lead they never relenquished. Vic Sunquist of the Redmen got a take down in the first round and held on to score a 2-1 victory over Boy Luke of the Eagles, but th,9 Redmen lost the next three matches by decision. Steve Moss of the Redmen was decision.ed 10 0 by Dave Davies; Mike Methrell at 167 was decisioned 5-0 by Boyd Dobron of the Eagles and at 175 Jim Callison suffered his first loss of ths season when he was decisioned by Kalvin Bennett of the Eagles. The match was finished off with a 8 0 decision by Dan Humphrey c'f the Redmen over Mike Hair. The victory by Humphrey kept his record unblemished un-blemished at 110. |
