Winning essay submitted by Jones follows: Most of the people who write about this are going to start off with the flag means this and the flag means that. The flag is an emblem of our wonderful freedom. Freedom is like a love song that everyone can sing, take away the words that rhyme, it doesn't mean a thing. 'Freedom is like a babbling brook running silently but surely down to a pool, where children are playing carelessly. Freedom is like a wild stallion stal-lion and a beautiful mare running unmolested in the wind with no corral or bit in their mouth to limit their freedom. Or a young boy romping through a flowery meadow barefoot, with his dog at his heels. Freedom is like a dove coasting along over head on an early dawn, or the air shrilling call of the meadow lark that splits the silence on a brisky sunny spring morning. morn-ing. All of this kind of freedom can ibe closely related to the freedom we enjoy everyday. |
