Show CLAUDE'S PommsmiA by Claude Ortnu All of you people who are of spring weather we are hav-complairlng hav-complairlng about the kind ing should be like me and look at the brighter side of life. You know if it wasn't giving us this kind of weather weath-er with additional moisture almost every day, and the cold weather, etc. Now we all know that we never have too much water in our area even a year's period; it will always dry out and put the pinch on us that way. We all know it will bring out the fruit bios-that bios-that if it would come warm, soms in April and May, and then change and freeze them later; It Will probably do so anyway, it has been known to do that many years. But we may eventually grow a few apples, pears, plums, a few times, cherries; but not often apricots and some times peaches Also, with the advent of dry warm weather, do you know what it will mean: You will have to get out and go to work, cleaning up the lot and garden spot, fertilizing that spot, and the lawns; trim and spray the apple trees, dig the ditches getting ready for the summer water turns, trim the shrubs, plant the annual flowers; flow-ers; dig around the perennials and so on. See what I mean? Now for a few more days I can relax when I get home, and rest for just another day or so, get along without the blisters on the hands and heart for just a few more days. Look at the weather this way and you won't complain com-plain about itv Had a nice visit with a Mr. Little of the Utah State Humane Hu-mane Society, concerning the Parowan dog problem. He had just read the article in my comments of two of three weeks ago and stated that his organization would be very happy to work with Parowan City is solving its dog problem prob-lem and added that we are not the only city with such a problem; In fact most of the small communities of our state are like us. He stated that the use of a dog pound, a tranqullzer gun and a stiff charge for keep of dogs in the pound would be a great help in dog control, providing the city passed the right kind of a dog control ordinance. But it would have to be enforced to the letter. He was as emphatic em-phatic as I in my statement that licensing a dog didn't give it the privilege of running run-ning loose; that the ordinance must protect the non-dog-owner as welL 'He also stated that a sheepman sheep-man has the right to protect his flock from dog packs, if he has to do it with a 30.06. But he concluded with the statement that a good dog ordinance, or-dinance, and use of a dog pound would do more to eliminate elim-inate our dog problem than anything else, and the citizens citi-zens should back up the city officials In such a program. And we agree wholeheartedly. wholeheart-edly. Parents and patrons of students stu-dents of Parowan High School shouldn't be too proud of the support they lent to Mr. John Talcott and the school music department as it sponsored the appearance of the Carbon High School band here last Wednes-day Wednes-day evening. The Carbon 85-piece 85-piece band In conjunction with the PHS band, put on a very fine evening of music, one of the best we have had the opportunity to hear for a long time. Both bands did a very fine job In playing selected se-lected numbers for the program, pro-gram, with very few to hear the fine event. The attendance of parents and patrons was poor, faculty attendance was worse; in fact we are about to extend our sympathy to Mr. Talcott for the way he must have felt |
