Show Parowan firemen on busy schedule PAROWAN The Parowan City Fire Department has been so busy fighting fires this hot dry season, they can't take time out to eat. They planned a swimming party and steak fry at the city pool with the members of the City Council and their wives, and just when the steaks were cooked to perfection the fire siren rang, and the firemen had to leave to fight a fire at Meadow Lake Estates in Parowan Canyon. They wish to thank everyone who helped with the party, and kept the steaks from burning until they returned. Fire Chief Albert Orton wishes to ask the help of all citizens in the area to prevent fires. Fire danger is extreme in southern Utah and there is a state wide ban on open burning. The heat and long dry spell here have caused mountains and valleys to be tinder dry and small fires burn out of control verv rapidlv. Citizens are asked to refrain from burning unless it is absolutely ab-solutely necessary, and to be sure children are closely supervised when setting off any kind of fireworks. There has been a rash of fires in the area and most are due to careless use of matches and cigarettes. Everyone is urged to observe rules for burning and prevent fires! |
