Show Self-care classes for respiratory diseases now open Local spokesman for the Utah Lung Association announced that the Christmas Seal Respiratory Disease Self-Care Classes are open for registration. The next monthly classes begin July 8. The Self-Care Classes are taught at the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. They are designed to help lung disease victims in South-western ( Utah, become less dependent upon others, and more physically active. Self-Care techniques enable emphysema, asthma or chronic bronchitis victims to move more air in and out of the lungs. The scientifically advanced instruction teaches the patients how to avoid episodes of acute respiratory failure, to cleanse the airways, use medications and to apply helpful health measures. Both patient and spouse attend the classes for a total of ten hours instruction. Each class is limited to six patients and partners so that personal attention can be given.
