Show LETTER TO THE EDITOR sonally don't approve of Bruce Decker. May I say that appointments ap-pointments as important as Principal of a respected high school should be made free from personal bias. They should be made as logically as possible with the needs of the community, school, faculty and students foremost in mind. If the selection decision had been made with these things in mind, Bruce Decker would have been the onlv possible choice. Don't misinterpret misin-terpret me, Mr. Hawley is, from what I know a nice guy, however, it's just that Bruce Decker is far better qualified to be Principal. I suggest that interested citizens, including students, immediately approach the school board to reconsider their decision. The school board answers an-swers to no one, except an aroused citizenry. Bruce Decker should be the next Principal of Cedar High. If there are others who feel the same as I, please take up the challenge and do something about it before you possibly lose one of your best school administrators, and most important of all, one of your best citizens. Dear Editor: I write this letter for only one purpose and this is to arouse interested citizens concerning the recent selection of the new Cedar High School Principal, or rather the non-selection of by far the most qualified candidate, Bruce Decker. How then and why did the school board select one who has had little or no high school administrative experience over one who has definitely proven himself at Cedar High to be capable to do an excellent job as Principal? Did any of the board members bother to ask any high school students or even faculty members mem-bers who they would prefer to have as Principal? Mr. Decker is well respected and admired at Cedar High and by any logical criteria of comparison should have been selected. Sure, not everyone is a fan of Mr, Decker, especially the bully, tough guy or punk who has been approached by Bruce. But as an old alumnus and past student body president I have seen and had reported to me by various people who know that Cedar High desperately needs more Bruce Deckers, not less, which I'm afraid may happen due to this recent slap-in-the-face. Because of this rather gross injustice dealt by the school board, one must conclude that certain board members per- |
