Show National Guard unit wins Eisenhower award to a National Guard Unit. The unit also recently received the National Guard Bureau Award. Both awards were for the suc cessful "Subs for Santa" program, a community support project. The symbol of the Eisenhower Trophy is a gold Jeep which will be displayed proudly by the Cedar City unit during the next year. :fcJr lilli 'tk Cedar City's National Guard Unit has received another top award. Headquarters and Headquarters Battery of the 2-222 Field Artillary located in Cedar City is the recipient of the Utah National Guard Eisenhower Trophy for 1974. The Eisenhower Trophy is the highest unit award presented by the Utah National Guard. It was presented by Major General Maurice Watts in ceremonies attended by Governor Calvin Rampton Saturday at Camp Williams. The Eisenhower Trophy is presented annually to the outstanding out-standing unit in the Utah National Guard. The award is presented on the basis of the results of the annual General Inspection, attendance at drills, maintenance inspections, armory ar-mory training, and annual field training. This is the third major award received by Headquarters and Headquarters Battery of the 2-222 Field Artillary this year. Recently the Cedar City unit was presented the Department of Defence Award. This is the highest national award presented PRESENTS AWARD. MG Maurice L. Watts, Utah Adjutant General and CPT Gary Miller Cedar City unit commander both smile proudly as they display the Eisenhower Award. The Cedar City unit, HHB 2 222 FA was named the 1 a MB v mm top unit in the state at the award ceremony Saturday at Camp Williams. The gold jeep, the banner for the unit guideon and the large cup go with the award. |
