Show Little League action in full swing in Parowan Mets five hits, walking nine and striking out sixteen batters. Roger Bentley was the top hitter for the Mets hitting 2-2, two singles. Brian Johnson hit a homerun, and Kelly Orton and David Hulet both contributed singles. David Hulet was the losing pitcher. PAROWAN - June 19 - The Dairy Freez Cubs won their seventh victory by defeating the Parowan Lions Club Reds Wednesday night in a ; close ballgame. In the top of the sixth the Cubs were leading 9-4. The Reds scored one run and threatened the Cubs with bases loaded and the tying run at home plate. The cubs were able to hold the Reds and retire the side for the victory. Final score 9-5. Pat Benson led the hitting for the Cubs hitting 2-3, a triple and a single. Shane Bess hit a double, and Brent Benson and John Clinton contributed singles. Tommy Packwood was the winning pitcher holding the Reds to four hits, striking out 10 batters bat-ters and walking eight. David Mitchell was the leading hitter for the Reds hitting 3-4, a triple and two singles. Doug Hermaasen contributed a single. Joe Walunas was the losing pitcher. PAROWAN Another exciting ballgame between the Dairy Freez Cubs and the Bank of Iron County Mets were seen by fans Saturday morning. In the top of the first inning the Cubs rallied for three runs, and in the bottom of the first the Mets scored two runs. In the second inning the Mets held the Cubs scoreless. In the third inning the Cubs added another run to make the score 4-2. In the fourth inning the Mets scored two runs to tie the game. The ballgame remained tied until the top of the JOHN CLINTON PAKOWAN - June 17 - The Parowan Lions Club Reds defeated the Bank of Iron County Mets Monday night 14-6. The Bank jumped off to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. After two innings the Beds had taken the lead 4-3. The Beds then scored one in the third, five in the fifth inning and two in the fourth and sixth innings. in-nings. The Mets were able to score one run in the fourth inning and two runs on a homerun by Brian Johnson in the sixth. Doug Hermansen led the hitting hit-ting for the Beds hitting 3-5, a triple and two singles. David Mitchell hit a triple and singles were hit by David Hargrove, Robert Hargrove and David Morgan. David Mitchell was the winning pitcher allowing the sixth. With two runners on base John Clinton hit his first of two homcruns. The first being a three run homerun to give the Cubs a lead. The second homerun in the same inning was a grand slam homerun to assure another Cub victory. The Mets battled in the bottom of the sixth for four runs making the finalscore 15-8. John Clinton led the hitting for the Cubs hitting 3-4, two key homeruns and a double. David Warren hit 2-4, two singles. Pat Benson and Casey Fiack both hit 2-5. Benson hit a triple and a double, and Fiack hit a triple and a single. David Evans and Brady Smith both contributed singles. Brent Benson pitched the first inning for the Cubs and allowed one hit and two runs. John Clinton was the winning pitcher pitching Trom the second inning. Clinton allowed four hits, walked five and struck out 13 batters. Mike Thornton led the hitting for the Bank hitting 2-3. A single and a double w hich scored three runs in the sixth inning. Mike then scored to make the fourth run. Roger Bentley hit 2-4 a beautiful triple and a single, and Scott Thornton hit a key double. Mike Thornton was the losing pitcher.
