Show Developmental Disabled Activity Filled Week slated for Young People ming lessons, sponsored by the Cedar City Recreation Program, will continue each Tuesday and Thursday until schofl begins. Swimming sessions will be held from 5-6 p.m. in the new Cedar City pool. "The Cedar City Recreation Program is sponsoring a basketball class for the develop-mentally develop-mentally disabled as well as swimming classes," Mrs. Higbee said. "This is a sign of real progress for the developmentally disabled in our area." "Super Week" begins Friday for 25 develop-mentally develop-mentally disabled children and adults from Iron, Beaver and Garfield counties. A highlight of the activity-filled week will be a guided tour through the Donny and Marie studio in Orem. All "super week" participants par-ticipants have been involved in a Title XX recreation and learning program this summer in their respective counties. "During the summer, they have taken classes in marketing and cooking, community awareness and social survival. They will now have a chance to put into practice the skills they have learned," Virginia Higbee, Volunteer Support Coordinator, Southern Utah State College School of Continuing Education, said. Friday, the group will leave Cedar City for Provo. They will spend Saturday morning at the Brigham Young University recreational center then will board the Heber Creeper for a meandering train ride to Heber City to attend the Wasatch County Fair. A pizza party will be held following their visit to the Osmond recording studios that evening. Sunday the group will attend Sunday School at the Utah State Training School in American Fork, then will return to Cedar City. "Super Week" activities will continue Monday with a visit to Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Tuesday with a trip to Kanab to see this season's melodramas at the Old Barn Playhouse. Accompanying the group will be chaperones and summer program assistants Carol Walker, Agnes Hansen, Debbie Corbridge, Kathy Judd and Mrs. Higbee. The trip is being funded through Title XX and the Five County Association of Governments, Manpower Planning program. Mrs. Higbee said that the regularly scheduled classes for the Iron County participants par-ticipants will continue through next week. Swim- |
