Show Cedar City voters went to the polls Tuesday and by more than a 2 to. 1 margin approved two seperate water bonding issues advocated by the Cedar City Council. Approximately 29 percent of the registered voters of Cedar City participated in the election giving the City Administration , firm support to improve the delivery system of the culinary water system within the community. Two propositions were offered to the voters. Proposition One was a proposed $2.2 million dollar revenue bonding program. That proposition received the approval of 1021 of the 1505 voters who participated in the balloting. Those voting against the issue amounted to 484. Proposition Number Two was for an additional $1 million general obligation bonds, which the city indicated in-dicated they needed to complete the necessary work for the water development. Voting on that issue was 983 for and 508 against. The proposed bonding program was highly critized by some who felt that the issue was excessive, that it was not necessary at this time, and that the voting could best be accomplished in November. That charege was apparently successfully countered by those who supported the need for the development develop-ment of the delivery system now and for the immediate future. City officials expressed their thanks for the voters for the support in the bond election and indicated that they would do "all in our power to provde the type of water system that will meet the needs of Cedar City for many more years." |
