But when we discovered points would be knocked off if we didn't go, most everyone decided the hike wasn't so bad. It turned out to be really pretty and a lot of fun. Especially since we had ice cream at the end of it. That afternoon we did really neat handicrafts, such as wallets, key chains, purses and rock painting. More contests followed, with bubble blowing and watermelon eating being the most popular. Before we knew it, it was skit time again. The 2nd night we had skits coming out of our ears. The costumes were "out of this world," not to mention the skits. Candle-lighting ceremony was really special. A dancing dan-cing fire and flickering candles illuminated faces as the dying notes of Taps echoed through the camp. More movies followed. Everyone was having so much fun that we didn't want to go back to our camps. The last day the sound of lummi sticks resounded through the trees as we prepared for the final JANA I KE KIMBALL If you like swatting flies; having contests; roasting hot dogs; smashing flies; having skits; a movie and popcorn; (along with flies, of course) freezing nights and trumpets that play reville at 6:30 in the morning; hikes; chasing flies; having waterfights; eating flies?. ...and a whole bunch of other things, men you'll love camp. For 3 fun filled days, (really two and a half) kids from all over Iron County braved the wilds to come to camp. Right off the bat we divided into groups of animals: Horses, Pigs, Cows, and Sheep; with 3 4-h camps in each group. Then we had contests. Sponge throwing; compass hikes; a tug of war; lummi sticks; and log sawing helped the different animals to compete. Skits came next, with movies a close second. Lights out came all too soon. The second day promised a variety of activities. First of all came the hike. A typical conversation in some of the tents: "Let's hide in the tents and lock the zipper Tent poles crashed to the ground on all sides along with the cry of "Timber!" Bags were packed as people rushed around hunting for toothbrushes, or flashlights, or lost socks. Everyone was impatient for awards ceremony, so we could get back to civiliation with hot baths, electric lights, and running water. Now that everyone's ready to go, I guess I better announce an-nounce the winners. PERSONAL I. D.: 1st-The 1st-The Crooked Seams; 2nd-The 2nd-The Three Wheelers; 3rd-The 3rd-The Cooking Idgets.
