Show - Enoch -fy and fl&C Midalley By Veda Matliesori Evan Matheson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylen Matheson returned home last week after spending two years in Japan on an LDS mission. Here to visit with Evan on his return were his two married sisters, their husbands and babies. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bishop and daughter were here from Price, and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Sevy and baby son were here from Salt Lake, as well as the rest of the family who live here. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Sevy and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sevy were here on Sunday from St. George to visit with the Gaylen Matheson family and to be present when their little grandson was blessed at Sacrament Meeting, and to hear Evan Matheson report his mission. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lund came from Salt Lake to visit with their daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Lawrence who recently moved into Garden Park Subdivision. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Jones have a new baby girl born last week at the Valley View Medical Center, making grandparents again of Mr. and Mrs. J. Stanford Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Matheson. Mr. and Mrs. DeVon Jones were in Provo over last weekend to visit with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Storrs. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matheson and daughter Diane were here from Firth, Idaho to attend the Matheson reunion, and to visit with other relatives and former neighbors and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Daly have been visiting here for the past two weeks from Lander, Wyoming. While here they attended the Matheson reunion and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Matheson and Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Matheson. Their children also visited here, Mrs. Sandra Christensen and five children were here from Wanachi, Wash. John and Lynda Bauman came from Provo, and Suzanne Varga and son Danny came from Lander. These people are all former residents of this area. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Maxwell and two children visited here from Salt Uike with the Matheson families. Mrs. Drusilla Smith visited in California with friends. Richard Grimshaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Grimshaw received a Masters Degree in Education during the June Commencement Exercises at USU in Logan. Richard teaches third grade in the St. George East Elementary. Mr. and Mrs. Barney Matheson visited here for the past week with Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Matheson and other relatives and friends. They live in Salt Lake and are also former residents of Midvalley. The Enoch Second Ward is sponsoring the annual July 24th celebration, and announces an-nounces that they are preparing an "Old Fashioned Enoch 24th", with a meeting, followed by hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, etc. Mr. and Mrs. Clint Matheson enjoyed a brief visit from Jo's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wes Bott, of Montebello, Calif. Descendents of Owen and Sarah Elizabeth Webster Matheson met at the old family home in Cedar Valley. The home is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Matheson who hosted the event. Family members came from Washington State, Idaho, Wyoming and northern Utah to join with local people. There were fifty five children, grandchildren grand-children and great grandchildren grand-children present to represent eight of the ten children of Owen and Sarah. The time was spent in reminiscing, visiting and enjoying a buffet supper. It was determined that Owen and Sarah were the parents of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy, grandparents to forty-nine,, great grandparents to one hundred sixty one and great great grandparents to nine. |
