Show Consecutive Club Members know their Gospel Becoming a member of the Cedar South Seminary Consecutive Con-secutive Club, requires each person reads at least one chapter a day in any of the standard works (scriptures) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for thirty days. These seminary students then receive a certificate and are elegible to attend the Consecutive Con-secutive Club parties. Seals to put on the certificates are given to sixty day readers; 100 day readers; 200 day readers; one year readers, along with a bronze pin and 2-year readers will have their names stationed on a plaque which will hang in the seminary building. They will also receive a gold pin and they are now planning an "extra special party". Only the original readers who have been reading consecutively since Dec. 10, 1974 will be able to attend this particular par-ticular party. Last year a new repentence police was formed which goes as follows : 1. First miss - read 10 chapters the next day 2. Second miss - read 15 chapters the next day. 3. Third miss - start over 4. Two consecutive days misses - start over. Various types of calendars are used to help remind students to read. One calendar had a picture of a temple and was marked into 100 sections. The students color a section of the temple for each day they read and when 100 days have been completed, the calendar is entirely colored. Pillow cases were available for students to purchase. On these pillow cases, there is a message which reminds students to read their scriptures before retiring to bed. To be in the consecutive club, one must have stick-to-it iveness. In 1975, three members of the 2A state basketball team read their scriptures after capturing the 2A state basketball trophy. This proves that members of the Consecutive Club are truly dedicated. The Cedar South Seminary faculty have long been encouraging en-couraging their seminary students to join the Consecutive Club and would agree that it is a good program for every family to start on their own. |
