Mr. Boyd Mitchell, a prominent graduate of the school, owned a ham radio set which he rarely if ever had time to use, He saw that the science department, under the direction direc-tion of Mr. James L. Benson, could profitably use the radio, and as a result he presented the entire outfit to the school. Mr. Benson says the interest inter-est is very high, especially now that other ham radio operators op-erators are being contacted in western U. S. and Canada. Nearly every boy in the electronics elec-tronics class is anxious to have this rewarding experience experi-ence and many of them are studying the requirements for a license. Mr. Benson also stated that the class is now developing a radio teletype circuit which will be another step in widening wid-ening the background of the students. Parowan High School ap-1 predates the thoughtfulness , of Mr. Mitchell. It no doubt is . a great boost to the depart-1 ment's radio equipment. Many boys are having experience with the equipment who may have never had the opportunity opportu-nity without the gift. |
