Show Parovan High to Stage Region 8 Wrestling Meet Friday, Saturday j Final preparations are now being made for the Region 'dight wrestling tournament which is to be hosted by I'arowan I'ar-owan High School on Friday and Saturday of this week, with Lowell Caldwell, school wrestling coach in charge of the preparations. Seven high schools from the Region will have teams in the meet, with the possibility of an eighth school coming in with a few men. Definite entries en-tries will b0 Delta, Mallard I Beaver and Parowan from the Northern Division, and Cedar, Hurricane and Dixie from the Southern Division. Milford is the possible eighth school to bring men to the meet, Mr. Caldwell states. I Delta will be odds on favor-lite favor-lite to win the meet, point-wise point-wise and also land the most men in the State Class B meet, which will be held the ' following week with the Moab High School hosting the event. Two sessions will be held each day, at 1 p. m. and 7 p. I m. all in the high school gym vith the 1 p. m. session on Saturday to be the smallest one of the four sessions, The finals and consolation matches match-es will take place in the evening. eve-ning. j Two sets of mats will be used and two matches will be under way at all times. Cald-I Cald-I well states that officials will I be Bruce Osborne and Ken Benson of .the College of Southern Utah faculty. Matches will be held in the regular 12 weight groups beginning be-ginning at 95 pounds and go-, ing through to the heavy-1 weight division.. First and second sec-ond place winners in the Re-1 gion meet will qualify for entry en-try in the state meet. With at least 12 participants in the meet from the entering enter-ing schools, with coaches and school officials, as well as spectators, the local school is anticipating a large number of people here for most of the two days. Preparations are being be-ing made for the school lunch room to help handle the participants par-ticipants Friday, and Mr. Caldwell states that some of the school organizations is making preparations to sell wrestler's dinners in the high school commons during the meet. Admission charge for each of the four sessions will be $1 for adults and 50 cents for ethers who attend. |
