That added to the versatile efforts of Skip I Mead who topped all scorers with 38 points and the steady output of Dave Pinamonti was enough to give the T-Birds the victory over the winless Mustangs. Mus-tangs. The Thunderbirds trailed through all of the first half of play narrowing the margin to a scant five points at intermission in-termission at 5!) to 51. Early in the second half Mead sparked a drive to tie the game but the Mustangs again pulled into in-to the load and until the final fin-al few minutes of play the contest was in doubt. Coach Boyd Adams lost two of his big men, Brent Turek and Carl Banks in the waning minutes but Gil Mullen and Lou Christensen combined with Pinamonti to take control of the boards and the victory. The previous night the Mustangs Mus-tangs had fallen to lead leading lead-ing Parsons of Westminster College. Friday night the T-Birds didn't fair quite so well as they were out hustled and out shot by a fine group from Grand Canyon College in I'hoenx, Ariz. In the contest the T-Birds dropped a 101 to 77 contest, but the game had no bearing on the conference standings. The Antelopes, always noted for their fine shooting put on a spree to take a commanding lead into the intermission, 44 to 27 and the T-Birds were never able to make up the difference. The 77 point was one of their lowest outputs of the season, although Pinamonti Pina-monti tanked 25 points to better bet-ter his per game average in the game. In that contest the T-Birds hit only 38 percent of their shots while the Antelopes split the net at a 58 percent clip from the field. Only other T-Bird in double figures in the contest was Mead who hit for 18 in the contest.
