Bids Rejected Two bids were also opened on a new police car, but were rejected. Council did authorize author-ize rebidding for a new unit, the Mayor indicated. A public hearing was set by the council to be held on March 6 at 8 p. m. at which time recommendations by the Planning and Zoning Commission Com-mission for a change in zoning zon-ing areas would be heard. Four specific areas are being considered for rezoning under the recommendation of the commission, as follows: 1. Rezone all property of the College of Southern Utah into Residential Zoning No. 3. 2. Rezone from R3 to CC1 the east 63 feet of Lot 8 which lies between Harding Avenue and 200 North Street on 100 West. It is property owned by Floyd Atkin and adjacent to Lin's Supermarket. Bid openings were held in ; connection with the Cedar City Ci-ty Council meeting held Thursday, Feb. 6, according to Mayor Loren Whetten. The firm of Rocky Mountain , Machines of Salt Lake City was the successful bidder on the supplying of a back hoe and loader for Cedar City Corporation. Cor-poration. The accepted bid was in the amount of $12,154. 70. A total of six bids were received re-ceived on the unit, although four of the bids were submitted submit-ted on a small unit and the city had reserved the right to accept the bid on the unit most acceptable to the city. Four bids on a smaller unit ranged from $8,342.77 to $9, 909.90. A second bid on the larger unit was submitted for $18,553.00. The accepted bid was on aa J. I. Case model 680. Lighting Materials The city council also accepted ac-cepted a bid for the supplying supply-ing of materials to complete the lighting of the Cedar City Municipal baseball park. Low bid was submitted by Graybar Gray-bar Electric of Salt Lake City. Six bidders participated with bids ranging to $4,380.25. Mayor Whetten pointed out that the materials bid will in essence give the Cedar City park a $20,000 lighting system. Poles and fixtures previously 3. Review Plans Forrest Hunter, chairman of the Cedar City Beautification Committee, met with the council to discuss plans for the 1969 beautification- pro gram and particularly to discuss dis-cuss proposals in connection with the four-lane highway through Cedar City from Interstate In-terstate interchanges on the north and south and attempts to have property owners participate par-ticipate with the installation : of curb and gutter. Hunter also presented a petition pe-tition signed by a number of property owners south of the existing city limits, for possible possi-ble annexation. City attorney was instructed to investigate 1 the petition for possible ac-j ac-j tion in the form of an ordinance, ordi-nance, the Mayor said. Also meeting with the council coun-cil with a proposed limited! parking program on 600 South ' Street near the Cedar City High School was S. M.
