Show National Arctic Circle, Elks Battle for League Lead Artie Circle 4 1 .800 Elks 3 1 .750 Jaycees 3 2 .600 Lions 1 4 .200 Jonss Motor 0 3 .000 Elks defeated Artie Circle and Jaycees came up with a win over Elks in action this week to tighten up the National Na-tional Little League race. Elks and Jaycees had a real battle with Jaycees winning in a two extra inning affair 4 to 3. Elks scored first in the first frame with a single by Robert Piatt and scoring on a double by Kevin Cox. Jaycees waited till the sixth to score their first run with an ' idenical method including a single by Michael Hair and a double by Kenneth Urie. Neither team scored In the seventh. Elks pushed In two runs without a hit in the eighth and Jaycees retaliated with three runs and the victory vic-tory in the bottom of the frame without benefit of a hit. Elks defeated Artie Circle earlier in the week by a score of 6 to 2. Kevin Cox was the winning pitcher and he also homered in the contest. He gave up just two hits. Elks scored six runs on five hits and Jeff Bulloch was the losing los-ing pitcher. Monday Artie Circle bounc-I bounc-I ed back and with the hitting 1 of Steve Jenson defeated Li-j Li-j ons 6 to 3. Jensen hit a home I run and two doubles and ( scored three of the six runs l.for his team. Robert Sherratf of Lions homered in the game. Both teams collected four hits. - . i, Friday Jaycees walked over ov-er Jones Motor in a marathon game, 25 to 2. Jaycee pitching j allowed only one hit in the l contest. Jaycees had a total I of 22 hits including five doubles. |
