Show I LETTERS TO THE EDITOR say how many low-down movies mov-ies there are. The fault lies mon with those who patronize, patron-ize, I admit, than with the theatre-owners. They'd soon have to raise the level of the movies if we all stayed away from the bad ones. It doesn't take super-Intelligence to figure out what all these things eventually lead to The more we adults tolerate and condone, the faster we fall into tin pattern that Is so common In othor cities. It is the truth that hurts and it seems that the proverbial Letter to the Editor: !Why Is it that everytime an Individual has the Intestinal fortitude to try to awaken a sleeping, apathetic citizenry of the obvious danger sig-! sig-! nals (recognizable by anyone j who has livd In communities ! where they already exist) to try to help them avoid the I proven pitfalls, they receive J a tromping from indignant citizens (those who think "All ! is well In Zion" and those who 1 are obvious products of th ! End Result In California 1 . who calls a so-far peaceful community, "Insular, anti-intellectual .... back-water", etc.)??? Letter to the Editor: Having received In the morning's mail, the fine pre-convention pre-convention Issue of the "UTAH PEACK OFFICER", I was pleased to note the great a-mount a-mount of advertising it contained con-tained devoted to Southern Utah, and especially Cedai City and Iron County. This Is in sharp contrast to my own Impression of the amount ot advertising we take In the periodic scenic editions, weekly week-ly tourist articles, and so on, in the Salt Lake City dailies. No doubt someone connected connect-ed with the Peace Officer's Association took some time and effort to solicit these adds and he should be commended for his efforts. To me it indicates in-dicates that the merchants and firms in this area are not reluctant to "shell-out" their hard earned advertising dollars dol-lars if they are convinced they will be put to good use. I have nothing to sell and have no "ax to grind", but as a citizen of Cedar City I am pleased to see someone taking an interest in making our as-sets as-sets and facilities known to the outside world. I think most of us would like to see Cedar City and Southern Utah "blow their horns" a little louder, and the efforts of the Peace Officers Of-ficers indicate to me that the commerce and industry segment seg-ment of th-9 area are ready to support It if the Chamber of Commerce or someone would shoe pinches tight on some indignant citizens! Let's wake up from our complacent slumber slum-ber and be actively engaged in preventing our wonderful city from the common pitfalls of today's degenerate attitudes and actions. APATHY the fall of Rome. APATHY the flood in Noah's time. APATHY the fall of thi Nephito nation. na-tion. APATHY the takeover by the Communists of nation after nation. Our nation may be next, and is well on its way, as a result of APATHY the failure to recognize, admit, ad-mit, take action against. Mrs. Lynch may be a voice in the wilderness (so was Noah No-ah and many other prophets of the past), but I am behind her 150',. Yours truly, Jackie Logsdon Mrs. Woolf, we love Cedar City, too, but we also recog nize that there Is always a possibility of pollution to any fair city, and have seen It happen In other cities we have resided In, In the past, and we doubt that Cedar City is exempt from this possibility. possibil-ity. Light shows, rotten movies, mov-ies, the Immoral fashions foul language, and toleranco of all these, are truly danger signals! Verbally defending your city and not recognizing the dangers or taking action against these signals, will cause us to succumb eventually, eventual-ly, as have so many other cities throughout the nation. Speaking for myself and many of my friends, I feel it is appalling that we dare not send our children or attend ourselves to probably better than half of the movies here, because of the low calibre presented to us .For every "Sound of Music" I'd hate to spearhead a move to gather-up gather-up the adds and collect the money. How about it? "For him who bloweth not his own horn, no horns shall be blown". REX HARRIS muuuuuuuuuuAMMMNWM Letter to the Editor: When the bouquet was handed to King Stevenson, which was indeed well deserved, de-served, we wondered how they missed the corner lot east, on seven hundred west street. The one belonging to Olivia (Libby) Nelson. Mrs. Nelson Is a widow and not so young as she once was. Yet her beautiful lot puts most of we men folks to shame. Not a weed is in evidence, her lawns, with their beautiful hair cuts, looks like she had combed up each blade to clip it just the right length. She was out spraying for dandelions dande-lions the other morning, that only her keen eyes could see. She has flowers from the time the first procus blooms in the springs, until the frost takes the last flowers In the fall. So here Is a big bouquet to one of our ladles for making another corner of Cedar City beautiful. Interested Citizen Dear Editor: A hearty thanks to Mr. Hey-wood Hey-wood for expressing so well some of the reasons for our moving to Cedar City. Paul C. Burgoyne during the summer of 1967. He has filled a mission to Germany for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mr. Grimshaw's wife is the former Elizabeth Messlnger of Beaver. |
