Show Committee Urges Participation in Events For Observance of Nation's Birthday and bring their families. We have just been informed that the featured speaker for this program with be Glen Snow, of St. George and Pinevalley. Mr. Snow is a former principal princi-pal of the Parowan High School, has been a state legislator leg-islator from this area, and has served as an officer in the National Na-tional Education Association with headquarters in Washington Wash-ington D. C. for many years. The afternoon will be taken up by the Race Meet and Rodeo Ro-deo sponsored by the Red Hill Wranglers at the city race track. Another story on . this will be found In the Parowan section of this paper. Everyone loves a good parade. par-ade. But like everything else, a good parade doesn't just happen. It takes the combined combin-ed efforts of lots of people according to the parade committee com-mittee for the July 4 event in Parowan. "We would like to start off the Fourth of July with a parade that everyone will enjoy" they continue. Those in charge of the parade pa-rade state that all business houses, clubs and many ward organizations have been contacted, con-tacted, however, any who would care to enter a float in the parade is invited to do so and should not wait for an invitation. in-vitation. Make a float as a neighborhood project, you ladies la-dies who belong to sewing clubs, put your sewing down for an evening and build a float. Final events of the day will include a band concert presented by the Parowan High School band under the direction of Robert Potter. It will be held on the city park lawn. The finale will be a dance sponsored by the Ram-mette Ram-mette Club of the high school to be held in the newly improved im-proved American Legion Hall with good music, and everyone every-one urged to attend. The committee concludes its story with the statement: "Plan to participate in the day's activities. Remember this is our country's birthday. Let's be proud and happy to be Americans. The committee especially encourages the children to costume, decorate their blcylce or tricycle or wagon or just walk, but enter the children's section of the parade. The committee concludes with the following statement: "We find that there are those who complain com-plain because the parade isn't as good as it could be and there are those who work and build floats to try to make it better. Which person are you?" The parade will begin at 9:30 a. m. and all entries should be in line by 9 o'clock east of the Iron County Rest Home on 100 South Street. Immediately following the parade, sports and games for all will be held on the park lawn. A variety of races and games will be offered this year, including the children's races, watermelon eating contest, con-test, a tug of war and many others that should attract all age groups. There will also be concession stands on the park with a variety of goodies for sale. The American Legion Auxiliary will also sponsor a food sale with homemade baked good on hand. , Following the sports a public pub-lic meeting will be held in the Third Ward church and everyone is urged to attend |
