Show festival Guild Plans Activities Enrollment for membership .n the Utah Shakespearean estival Guild for 1908 is nowi underway, it is announced by! "To have a truy great Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, we must attract major contributions from corporations, cor-porations, foundations and generous benefactors accross the nation. . is only a beginning. The Festival itself has grown in national and international inter-national prestige. The Festival Festi-val was invited to participate in the American Wing of the Restoration of Arts Festival in England and this summer one of only five groups so honored. Film strips of last year's performances were made by the Tenth Muse of California and distributed to schools and media centers for help in teaching Shakespearean Shakespear-ean drama. He stated that first returns are most encouraging indicating indicat-ing that about one out of three enrollers is a new member, "If this continues and all former members re-enroll, the goal of 200 members should be reached." Contributions above the $5 membership per person, have also been received initially, it was stated. The officers of the guild "We have started to attract such donations," he said. For the. third year, Avon Products, Inc. has donated , $1000. towards to-wards the costuming of the players. This year one of the DuPont Foundations contributed contri-buted $1000 and the Fine Arts Association contributed . over $500. Officers hope that this Major contributors also want to know if the cultural activity they are asked to support sup-port has wide local support. Membership in the Guild provides pro-vides a definite answer to this question and membership has shown a steady growth in keeping with the Festival. Continued growth this year will certainly demonstrate community support of this outstanding cultural activity, it was suggested. Names of Guild members are published in the Festival program and these programs are sent to corporations, foun-' foun-' dations and other possible benefactors of the Festival.
