Show Junior Bowling Ass'n. Being Formed at Cedar Bowling Lanes An American Junior Bowling Assn. is now being former in Iron County by the combined efforts of the local Women's and Men's Associations whose members mem-bers will act as directors, coaches, coach-es, and advisors to any and all youngsters who wish to partici- pate. Four objectives of the AJBC were listed as follows: 1. To educate the youth of America in the values of sportsmanship sports-manship and good citizenship. 2. To create in youth a desire for physical fitness, mental alertness, alert-ness, and morally sound patterns pat-terns of behavior 3. To maintain the ideals of amateurism in order to preserve the youths eligibility during the school years. 4. To provide a membership services program, adult leadership, leader-ship, and guidance in the game of tenpins. The program is designed for youths nine through 19 years of age and the awards program is divided into age groups so each is competing against boys and girls of his own age. The group includes Bantam for 12 and under; un-der; Juniors for 13 to 15 years of age and seniors for those 16 through 19. Girls also have different dif-ferent requirements in order to receive awards. Junior leagues are now being formed at the Cedar Bowling Lanes. Plans are being made for a league Friday evening at 6, Saturday afternoon at 4 and a small league at 6 p. m. Saturday. Satur-day. Included will be an all-girls league. Attempts to initiate a bantam league are also being made for both boys and girls. The Bantam league would bowl only two games, and there would be an instruction period of one-half one-half hour for these youngsters before they start to bowl each week. Tentative starting dates for the AJBC leagues will be March 4, and those interested in the program pro-gram can register at the Bowling Lanes, or contact Floyd Evans, , Iron County Bowling Association Associa-tion secretary. Youth from thru-out thru-out the county are invited and encouraged to participate. |
