Show CSU Board Applies for HousingFunds Hall student residence was approved ap-proved by the board. The additional addi-tional funds would make a total of $285,000 that the college has requested from H. and H. F. A. for the new wing, which is designed de-signed to provide additional housing for 95 single students. In the department of English three appointments were approved approv-ed by the board. Application for additional building funds and appointments in the department of English were considered and action taken at the meeting of the College of Southern Utah Board of Trustees Trus-tees held Thursday. A request by the administration administra-tion to apply for an additional $35,000 from H. and H. F. A. to complete a new wing on Juniper Appointed to teach three sections sec-tions of Freshman English winter win-ter and spring quarters was Mrs. Geneve Plummer. Mrs. Marilyn Stapley Hawley was appointed to teach three sctions of Freshman English winter quarter and four sections spring quarter and Mrs. Elva O. Hatch was appointed to teach two sections of Freshman English each of the two quarters. A leave of absence without pay was granted Brent C. Palmer, Assistant Professor of Biology from September 1966 to September Septem-ber 1969 to complete work toward a doctorate at Oregon State University. Uni-versity. He will study under an $8,000 stipend from the National , Science Foundation. Leaves of absence were extended extend-ed for A. Glen Whalquist, Associate Asso-ciate Professor of Agronomy and Biology, and Bruce Osborne, As-sociated As-sociated Proessor of Physical Education Ed-ucation and Director of Athletics. Both are working towards doctorates. doctor-ates. Use of the CSU Thunderbird, football stadium through 1966 was approved following a report on the adjustment of the build ing program. Construction of the new fine arts building is currently current-ly underway on the northeast portion of the stadium. A special meeting of the Board was set for Friday, Feb. 25 at CSU to discuss tuition and fees for 1966-67 and plans for future student housing. Overall plans of the college building program calls for a relocation re-location and construction of a new stadium. |
