Show Cedar High Redmen Turn Cold, Drop First League Game, 63-61, to Enterprise Wolves put the Redmen out in front by one point. A lead tliaat was short lived as the Wolves pounded out tiie final victory. S Banks of Enterprise took scoring honors with 19 points followed by Isom of the Redmen with 15. The victory for the Wolves left them in a mathematical position to still be in the running for the league crown, but the Redmen, with only one defeat remained on top of the standings with a one game margin over Dixie and two games ahead of the Wolves who hold down third place. Two scrappy guards for the Redmen came off the bench to nearly pull the Cedar erew out of the defeat, but the Wolves hung on for the victory. Brad Isom and Robyn Reid were the two men for the Redmen who finally found the range for Coach Richard Hobbs in the third quarter, quar-ter, to pull the Redmen from a 14 point deficit to a one point advantage at one point in the 'final period. Hard work on the board by the Wolves, a cripple off the press in the final minute of play put the Enterprise crew back on top to stay in a frantic final 30 seconds sec-onds of play. The Redmen looked like they were off to the races as the contest con-test opened moving out to a 6 to 0 lead. The Wolves quickly called a time out, and from that point on the course of action changed. The Wolves started taking control con-trol of the boards and the Red- men got -oia liom uie iieia ana the game was knotted at 11 all at the quarter mark. In the second quarter the Wolves promptly moved into a lead and held it through the period. For the Redmen they hit only 28 percent of their shots in the first half and finished the game with a poor 33 percent from the field as well as shooting less than 50 percent from the free throw lane. The game was actually won at the lane with Enterprise hitting hitt-ing 11 of 24 attempts also less than 50 percent and the Redmen with 9 of 21. The two point difference dif-ference was a big difference as they both had 26 fieldgoals. In the second period of play Enterprise moved to a 10 point advantage before the Redmen enjoyed a full court press to narrow nar-row the gap to five at halftime. In the third period Enterprise moved out again to 14 points before Isom and Reid found the range. They methodically began to narrow the gap and one point late in the fourth quarter Isom |
