An estimated 200 townspeople attended the open house activities activi-ties of the Cedar City National Guard in connection with Muster Day activities Saturday. The open house was held following fol-lowing a parade down Main Street and a swearing in ceremony cere-mony performed by Mayor Loren Whetten. During the open house each section displayed equipment and demonstrated military skills. The main attraction for the children child-ren were the two mammoth eight inch howftzers that were manned by the Seperate Detachment. Detach-ment. Amazement was expressed by those who visited of the firepower fire-power and combat readiness of the Cedar City unit. MUSTER DAY. At left children climb aboard the popular Eight-inch Howitzer which was on display Saturday in connection con-nection with Muster Day activities by the National Guard. At right troops stand at attention while Mayor Loren A. Whetten rededicates the unit in swearing in ceremonies. Evening activities included a banquet and the Annual Military Ball that was attended by the 232 men and their wives, wives. I |
