Show Final Rites Honor Albert fllbertson ; ' J ' - ties as supervisor of the Dixie National Forest in 1942 and held that position until his retirement. Active in community affairs, he was a former secretary and president of the Cedar City Rotary Ro-tary Club and he served as president pres-ident of the Escalante Knife and Fork Club. He was also a member mem-ber of the Old Folks Committee and on the Cedar City Beauti fication Committee. A member ot, the LDS Church, Albertson served as bishop of several wards and was on the high council in Richfield am Cedar City Stakes. Throughout his life he was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and was accorded the Silver Beaver Award by ythe Utah Parks Council for his efforts ef-forts in behalf of that youth organization. or-ganization. Following his retirement f-the f-the Forest Service, he was vice president of the Utah National Parks Council and worked for ALBERT ALBERTSON Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 27 in the Cedar Second Ward Chapel for Albert Albertson, 70, prominent Cedar City resident and former supervisor super-visor of the Dixie National Forest. Albertson succumbed in the Valley View Medical Center Saturday Sat-urday morning, July 23 af short illness. His career with the U. S. Forest Service spanned over 40 years, beginning as a district ranger with headquarters in Loa, Wayne County, following World War I and concluding as supervisor of the Dixie National Forest at the time cf his retirement in 1958. In 1927 Albertson was transferred trans-ferred to Salina and in 1938 to Richfield where he served as assistant as-sistant supervisor and later as supervisor of the Fishlake National Na-tional Forest. He assumed his responsib M- a short time with the State Pants and Recreation Service. He was born in Emery, on October 11, 1895, a son of Severen and Marv Christensen Albertson. He married Jessie Lou Hall in June 1920 in the Manti LDS Temple. Tem-ple. He is survived by his widow, Cedar City; a son and two daughters, daugh-ters, Preston H., Portland, Maine; Mrs. R. Smoot (Mary) Seaman, Cedar City; Mrs. Lyman (Barbara) (Bar-bara) Richardson, Tucson, Ariz. Also surviving are seven grandchildren grand-children and six brothers and two sisters. Marion, Emery; Clifford, Price; Rufus, Orangeville; Ernest, Murray; Mrs. Dortha Powell, Salt Lake City; Louis, Castle Dale; Howard, Clearfield; and Mrs. Bill (Frances) Fisher, Santa Ana, California. |
