Show Large Parade Highlights Successful Pioneer Day Celebration in Cedar Pioneer Day celebration in Cedar Ce-dar City Monday, July 25, was a huge success highlighted by one of the largest and most colorful color-ful parades in the history of the celebration. With 3G entries in the parade the theme of "To Those Who Believe" was aptly portrayed. In the competition for prize money the Cedar First Ward Primary Pri-mary and Sunday School entry was adjudged first place honors. The float was built to the theme of "And the Desert shall Blossom Like a Rose." With two levels, the float displayed flowers in pink and red wtfh white and green background. In second place was the Eighth Ward with their float containing a gold paper machee of a pioneer couple set off at the base with deep colors. Cedar City Indian Brancn picked pick-ed up third place honors with their entry. Pictures of the three top floats are found on this page and on page two of this issue of the Iron County Record. Activities at Park The parade was followed by concessions and activities on Uie Cedar City Park and the first annual invitational baseball tournament during the afternoon. The entire day's activities were under the direction of the Cedar Stake and funds derived from the events and activities will go into the Stake Building Fund. Those in charge of the day's events expressed their appreciation apprecia-tion for the support that was given by all groups and organizations organ-izations and for the fine attendance atten-dance at the celebration activities activi-ties by residents of the area. |
