Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING By Nola Kupfer Christmas is a time for parties and friends as was evidenced by the gathering at the James Iloyle home Friday. Members of Mrs. Hoyle's pinochle club and their partners enjoyed a supper followed fol-lowed by dancing and visiting. Attending the festivities were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Dockstader, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Robb, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Humbert Hum-bert Rosenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Duerksen, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Barrick, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Adams and the Hoyles. Enjoying family and friends as they return from Northern schools are Betsy Lunt, Margaret Froyd, Kay Ashciolt, Judy Cor-ry, Cor-ry, and Gloria Dotson. It was a gay time for all girl scouts of Cedar City on Monday. Over 125 girls gathered in the basement of the Elks Lodge for a gala Christmas party. Games were played and refreshments served by the Girl Scout committee, commit-tee, consisting of Itha Lindsay, Reta Esplin, Evelyn Taylor, Joe Hartman, Connie David, and Mary Robertson. Other activities enjoyed during the afternoon were the singing of carols and the presentation of the girl scout closing ritual. Beta Sigma Omega chapter was entertained on Thursday by Mrs. Bud Rember. During the meeting hour, Mrs. Laurence Cooper Coo-per spoke on the art of verse making. The ladies discovered that in everyone there is a bit of the poet and Mrs. ooper created creat-ed an Interest to learn the ways of making verse. Refreshments were served by Betty Stones and Myrdlth Rice. Holiday visitors at the H. mJ Endsley home will be Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Machen of Spanish Fork. They will be on hand to en-Joy en-Joy Christmas dinner and the activities ac-tivities of the day. Mr. and Mrs. Max Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Woolf were co-hosts and hostesses at a Chritmas party for members of their square dancing group. Dinner Din-ner was served at the Woolf home after which visiting was enjoyed by those present. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Harding and small daughter are dividing their holiday vacation between the homes of Dr. and Mrs. Lewis Harding and Mr. and Mrs. Dub Leigh. The Hardings have been making their home in Los Angeles An-geles while Mr. Harding is attending at-tending the University of Southern South-ern California Dental School. The First Security Bank of Utah employees held their an-nival an-nival Christmas party at Milt's Stage Stop on Friday evening. The group met together In the banquet room dinner, followed by games and visiting. Winners of the games played were presented pre-sented lovely gifts by the committee. com-mittee. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Anderson Invited friends to their home on Monday evening for snacks and games. Finding the evening a most pleasant one were Mr. and Mrs. Byron Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Montgomery, and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bowman. Visiting with the Rex Ericksons over the past week end were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Erickson and three children of Kanab. To add to the spirit of the holiday hol-iday scene and to wish their many friends a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ratte sent out invitations in-vitations for friends to call at an open house Monday evening. A pleasant evening of greeting friends and visiting with those who called was enjoyed. Light refreshments were served. The Ratte home was a picture of Christmas with its gay decorations decora-tions and the warmth of friendship. friend-ship. Mr. and Mrs. Smoot Seaman, Mrs. Virginia Vir-ginia Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Seaman, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Wes-ley Mullett and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Berrett. "I'll be Home for Christmas" is the song being sung by the children of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Stephenson. The Stephensons are anticipating the arrival of Lt. and Mrs. Ray Stephenson and two sons from Denver and the Joseph Stapleys and daughter Teresa of Salt Lake City In time to hang up the children's stockings stock-ings at their fireplace. " The home of Mr. and Mrs. George Jones took on the glow of Christmas as they entertained for friends at a Christmas dinner din-ner and social. Booth, Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Porter, Mrs. Beatrice Brunson, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Roundy, Mr. and Mrs. Parson U. Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Orton, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Knight. Following dinner, din-ner, gifts were exchanged and games were enjoyed. The annual Ladies of Elks Christmas party was held Thursday, Thurs-day, Dec. 13 in the Elks Lodge. 1 Santa Claus was on hand to give each lady a gift which added to all of the other merriment made for a mast entertaining evening for all. Idona Jackson served as chairman for the affair with Itha Lindsay as officer advisor and committee members Donna Reid, Donna Loer, Sylvia Asmus, Bcu-lah Bcu-lah Stevens, Romaine Foster, Janet Ja-net Whitehead, Wally Smith. Jan Murphy, Zola Lister and Barbara Meeks. Mrs. Wallace Smith returned from Salt Lake City this week. She had sepnt two weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Simklns. Mrs. Smith was happy to greet her daughter Donalee Smith Simkins as she returned return-ed from the hospital with a new baby daughter. The new member of the Simklns fa mily arrived Dec. 11. Jill Is the name that has been chosen for the little miss. An older sister, Kenalee, completes com-pletes the family picture. Also happy over the baby's arrival is Mrs. Ellen Simkins, paternal grandmother. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Davis, former residents of Cedar City, have received news of the arrival of a little baby boy on Dec. 17 to the Davlses. Small 16-month-old Ricky was happily a-waiting a-waiting his brother's arrival home. The Davis family makes its home In. Boise, Idaho. Lt. and Mrs. Keith Cooley will spend Chrlstn.u with Lt. Cool-ey's Cool-ey's mother, Llta Cooley and other oth-er family members. Early in January Jan-uary Lt. Cooley and family will change their residence from Hill Air Force Base to Sacramento, where he will be assigned. |
