Show Cedar Breaks District Scouts Make Week End Jaunt to Nevada - Earn Merit Badge Awards Wnty-four Scouts and Seout-ra Seout-ra of the Cedar Breaks District of the Utah National Parks Council, Coun-cil, enjoyed a most interesting overnight trek last week end, going first to Nellls Mr Force Base and spending the night at Warm Springs In Nevada. TV poup left Friday morning under the direction of Phil Og- den, District Camping Committee, and were received at Nellls Air Force Base near Las Vegas at 2:00 p.m. by 1st Lieutenant Wy-man Wy-man who had been assigned as the tour officer and also is one of the Jet Instructors on the base. The group was given an extensive ex-tensive tour of the Air Force Base which included a close look at the F-100 Jet. F-102 and the F-84. The Scouts were able to see the jets taking off and landing by the use of parachutes to slow them down. Lt. Wyman explained explain-ed ev'iythlng of interest related to the operation and parts of these leading Jot planes. A fine meal was enjoyed by all at Mess Hall No. 2 after which the Group left for Warm Springs area where they put up their camps. j A short period for swimming before retiring was the highlight high-light for the evening at Warm Springs. During the forenoon of I Saturday the boys and leaders again participated in swimming and a number of the Scouts worked on Life Saving and Swimming merit badges. Twelve of the Scouts were able to pass off the Swimming merit badge to Mr. Ogden while there. The party returned home on Saturday afternoon. af-ternoon. Leaders that were in charge and furnishing transportation were Phil Ogden, Director of the trip. Eliu Whatcott, associate Director Dir-ector of the trip, Bishop Burton White, Kay Wilkes, Eldon Yer-genson, Yer-genson, Richard Leigh, Bill Top-ham, Top-ham, Wayne Jones, Del Stout, Alve Matheson, Wilford Day, Lloyd Corry, Lee Banks, and John Tanner.
