Show County Commission Studies Issues; Sets Course of Action Responsibility of tire control In the remote areas of Iron County Coun-ty was placed in the hands of the Iron County Sheriff 's office at the meeting of the County Com- . sion Monday at Parowan. The commission made this change, It Indicated, in the interest in-terest of the county. Previously the coui.ty was participating in a district fire control program In cooperation with the state forestry forest-ry department. The Commission moved to discontinue this participation parti-cipation program and gave the responsibility of the program to the sheriffs office. In other action of the commission commis-sion a report of an audit of the county books was heard from the state auditor's office. Audit reported that the accounts and records of the county were well kept and that they appreciated the courtesies and cooperation extended during the course of the examination. Public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on Dec. 31 at the courthouse in Par-owan Par-owan at 10:00 a. m. The same date at 2 p. m. a meeting of the commission has been called to adopt the budget with the changes as made at the Monday meeting provided no objection to the budget arises in the public hearing. The county received a bill from the Utah Water User Association in the amount c2 i250 ag an assessment as-sessment to help in the state water development program. This was an Increase of $260 over the county's assessment for 1959. The commission approved payment of an amount equal to the 1959 assessment as-sessment and notified the water board that the $990 assessment would be paid after the first of the year. He expressed his concern with the possibility of a reduction reduc-tion of library funds with the county cooperating In the State Bookmobile program. The commission com-mission assured Major Joseph that funds for the City-County library program, rather than being be-ing reduced, had been increased under the proposed budget to be adopted later this month. A motion was passed author- izing all elective officers to attend at-tend the annual convention of the State Association of County Officials to be held in Salt Lake City on Jan. 21, 22 and 23.
