Show Los Angeles Scouts Report Enjoyable Southern Utah Visit Members of scout troop in Los Angeles, Calif., spent over a week in southern Utah and at Navajo Nava-jo Lake, boating, camping and in other activities of the area. The 16 scouters and their three adult leaders made special efforts ef-forts to report to the Iron Coun- ty Record that their stay in this area was enhanced by the fine treatment and response for aid that was given by citizens of the area. ' Special thanks was given by the group to Earl Horton of the( Texaco Service Station and Ray Knell, both of Cedar City. With the group were Jay Arn- old, scout commissioner of Los, Angeles, and Edward Kutelo.j scoutmaster. An interesting feature of the scout trip was their kayak boats which troop members had built as a project. The troop has built 20 of these kayaks at an estimated esti-mated cost of $200 per boat and they have hopes of completing more of them next year. They used the boats extensively on Navajo and reported a most enjoyable en-joyable trip. Because of the Interest shown by some Mr. Arnold is sending aj kit for making the kayak boats to Mr. Knell of Cedar City and suggested that scouters of this area who are interested is having a lot of fun, might investigate the kayaks as a possible project. The L A scouts had so much fun that they indicated they will be looking forward to returning to Cedar City and southern Utah again next year. |
