Show Re-Zoning Hearing ! Creates Residential Districts Public hearing to consider the re-zoning of property in the northeast section of Cedar City was held at the regular session of the Cedar City Council Thursday. Property under consideration included property east of Coal Creek formerly occupied by the catrt ii ivOOu iAtt-iaiui I'laoi, and property west of Coal Creek adjacent to Center Street known as the Woodrow Janson property. Both of these properties have previously been zoned for light industry. At the hearing the Council adopted a change in the zoning and both areas were re-zoned to A-l residential and will conform to that zoning a3 of the hearing. Several property owners and Interested In-terested citizens were on hand for the hearings at which pros and cons of the zoning change were heard prior to the adoption of the change. Council in regular session following fol-lowing the hearing accepted a bid from Chester Parry for installation instal-lation of a sewer system on 1100 West Street from 200 North U 400 North Street. Parry submitted a bid for $2.9 15 and it was the only bid received on the project, j Approval was also given for the calling of bids for the con-istructlon con-istructlon of a retaining wall on the North side of the Cedar City Public Library located on the corner of 100 West and Center Street. Retaining wall will be constructed in conformance with landscaping project now underway under-way on the library grounds. State Road Commission has also al-so contacted the city asking for cooperation In the repavlng of Main street from the Coal Creek bridge on the north to 400 South, Street, a distance of 1.2 miles, under the 1959 program. Resurfacing Resur-facing project would Include taking out the cement now in use and redoing the entire area for the purpose of eliminating the existing vibrations from larger trucks and trailers. Commission is also recommending recom-mending that Main Street be converted con-verted to parrellel parkin; in connection with the project and suggests that a water main, running the length of the project, be redone at the time to eliminate elimin-ate leakage underneath. Although the city council took no action they requested that the commission budget the project with details to be worked out at a later date. |
